Preview for Dream11 Fantasy

The Big Bash League (BBL) is gradually moving towards its business end, and every game in the lead-up to the finals is set to have a bearing on every side in the competition. The 50th match will see Hobart Hurricanes play hosts to Sydney Thunder in what is a crucial encounter for the latter.

With 11 points after 12 games, the Thunder are tantalizing placed at the 5th spot and they will look to consolidate their spot or even go up the ladder when they take on Hobart Hurricanes at the Bellerive Oval on Friday. They come into this game on the back of an eight-wicket shellacking at the hands of Perth Scorchers.

Hobart Hurricanes, on the other hand, are on the verge of getting knocked out of the competition after they managed just four wins in their first 12 encounters. However, they’ll be looking to build on the four-run win that they achieved against Melbourne Renegades in their last fixture.

Weather Condition/Report

Unfortunately, it is expected to be an overcast day in Hobart on Friday. According to the weather report, the sun and clouds are expected to play hide and seek throughout the day in Hobart. While the temperature is set to be between 13 and 22 degrees Celsius, the humidity is set to hover around 51%. Chances of rain- 20%

Pitch Condition/Report

The past two games played at the Bellerive Oval have dished out high-scoring encounters with the likes of Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers notching up scores of 3-212 and 7-175 respectively. However, chasing hasn’t been that easy, as vindicated by the past two games. But, with the weather expected to stay overcast, both sides might be tempted to bowl first and exploit the overhead conditions.

Average first innings score:– 178 [In the 3 completed games at the venue this season]

Record of chasing teams: Won – 1, Lost – 2

Injury and Availability:

Sydney Thunder has made one change to their 13-man squad with Chris Tremain replacing Brendan Doggett.

The Hurricanes welcome back the star duo of James Faulkner and D’Arcy Short in their 13-man squad in place of Caleb Jewell and Jake Reed.

Top Picks:

Hobart Hurricanes- The Hurricanes will be bolstered by the addition of D’Arcy Short to the playing XI, and he along with the likes of Matthew Wade [66], Mac Wright [70] and David Miller will hold the key to their fortunes with the bat. As far as bowling is concerned, James Faulkner has returned after missing out on the past few games due to injury. He, along with Qais Ahmed [1-25] and Thomas Rogers [1-35] will lead their bowling unit.

Sydney Thunder: Alex Hales scored a whirlwind 59-ball 85 in the last game against Perth Scorchers but even that wasn’t enough as he got very little support from the other end. The right-hander will once again be the key to Thunders’ fortunes but he’ll hope that the likes of Usman Khawaja and Calum Ferguson lend him more support than they did against the Scorchers’.

None of the Thunder bowlers had any impact against the onslaught of Liam Livingstone and Josh Inglis in the last game. And, against a power-packed batting-unit like Hobart, the likes of Daniel Sams, Gurinder Sandhu and Chris Morris will have to be at the top of their game. These players should be picked in your Dream11 Fantasy team.

Expert Advice:

The wicket at the Bellerive Oval has always been a batting paradise. And, with both sides struggling with their bowling in the competition, it might just turn out to be a bat vs bat shootout. Hence opting for batsmen like Matthew Wade, Alex Hales or D’Arcy Short as captain/vice-captain of your Dream11 Fantasy team can be a good punt.

Probable Winners:

Hobart Hurricanes are expected to come out as the winners.
