Preview:
New Zealand will take on Bangladesh in the third and final ODI match of the series. As many had expected, New Zealand have wrapped up the series with one game still to be played. The run-chase seemed to be an improbable task for the Blackcaps at one point in the 2nd ODI, but skipper Tom Latham’s unbeaten century helped them to win the game by 5 wickets with 10 balls to spare. Pacers Trent Boult, Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson are doing their job really well by keeping a check on the flow of runs. New Zealand are always a tough opposition to beat in their home turf, which has been proved yet again.
On the other hand, having suffered a humiliating loss in the 1st ODI by 8 wickets, Bangladesh came well prepared and fought hard till the end in the 2nd ODI. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for them against the professional New Zealand side as they lost the match by 5 wickets. Skipper Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Mithun were the notable performers with the bat for them. With the series already done and dusted, they will need to put in some extra efforts to beat the top-class New Zealand unit to seek their first win on this tour.
NZ vs BAN Weather Report for 3rd ODI:
It will be sunny in Wellington with the temperature looming at 18 and 21 degrees Celsius and the humidity levels are high at 72 per cent. There is no forecast of rain for this match.
Pitch Condition/Report:
Basin Reserve is hosting an ODI after a long gap of 3 years but it has regularly hosted domestic T20 matches. The surface seems to be a balanced one and quick bowlers can make use of the grass cover. Batsmen can score runs freely if they hang in there for long. Anything above 280 is difficult to chase on this wicket and whoever wins the toss should bat first.
